The different types of locking systems

What is a locking system?

A locking system is a number of locking cylinders arranged certain combination and their keys. Alongside their mechanical locking function, they are also there to perform a planned organisational function.

What is a lock?

A lock is the combination of one or more keys with a cylinder. For a locking system to work and be both secure and compact, a specific and targeted procedure must be followed during planning. Today, there are locking system schemes for small and larger properties alike. What these schemes have in common is that locking is structured into groups. It is possible to create locking areas that can be accessed by different groups. As a result, however, the number of possible locks is reduced.

Series locking or individual locking?

Series locking and individual locking is the question as to whether to use one or more locking cylinders with the same code and one or more of the same keys. Series cylinders are often used where there is no relationship to other doors or where independent locking cylinders are to be used for security reasons.
