Main key systems

Each lock has its own unique cylinders and their own keys that do not fit other locks. The main key, however, can be used with all locks in the locking system. The "owner" of all the keys, who has the main key, can unlock any door in the system. The number of locks that can be incorporated into a main key system is larger than will be practically required. However, main key systems can be upgraded to include more keys at a later date. The intended size of the system must be known when the system is first ordered.

Main key systems with central lock
Combined main key-central lock systems are suitable for properties with more than just one security function. Example: Example: A vacation retreat uses a combined main key and central lock principle. The retreat management's main key opens all doors, including individual rooms, common rooms, and management rooms. This simplifies maintenance and cleaning of rooms. The main door is fitted with a central lock, into which not only the main key, but also all room keys fit. Guests at the retreat can come and go as they please. Baggage rooms, freezing compartments, bicycle rooms, sports rooms, and other rooms can also be included into the plan if necessary. The organisational scheme can only be used when the basic principle of the sanctity of the home must give way to more important considerations such as legal responsibility, cleaning and maintenance, etc. or the premises is a hotel or similar.

Important: This type of locking system with main key is often used in housing complexes. However, because one person's possession of a main key can be problematic, both when the apartment is rented, but especially when the apartment has been purchased, we recommend not having a main key for this type of application and instead to use a purely central lock system.
